INSURANCE COVERAGE

Most Long-Term Care Insurance Policies will accept private caregivers.

1-3 Hours of Care

$40-$75/hr

Not everyone needs full time care. It might be helpful to have a caregiver stop by for shower assistance, meal prep, and medication reminders.

4-8 Hours of Care

$35-$45/hr

Assistance with all Activities of Daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, incontinence care, med assistance, fall prevention, bed-bound care, and more.

8+ Hours of Care **

$35-$45/hr

To stay compliant with CA overtime laws, providers charge 1.5x their base rate after 8 hours/day and/or 40 hours/week. The referral fee doesn’t change.

16-24 Hours of Care

$500-650/Day

The extended shift is best for someone who needs around the clock care and sleeps well. This limits the number of providers creating a smaller consistent team (2-3 people)

What is a Referral Agency?

A Referral Agency is often referred to as a “Domestic Referral Agency”

A Referral Agency registers Professional Caregivers then refers them to families and into the homes of the aging, ill, disabled and injured. It’s a business model designed to promote total control for the client and independent professional caregivers alike.

A Referral Agency does not employ the caregivers

Because the caregivers work independently, they are not employees of the agency. This also means that the agency cannot offer bonding insurance, professional liability insurance or workers compensation insurance.  Any client can request a caregiver to provide their own bonding and liability insurance. Worker’s compensation insurance can be easily engaged by the client through either a Home Owner’s Insurance policy or Renter’s insurance Policy, by getting a Rider in addition to the current coverage. The cost is usually between $80-$200 per year.

Well, Everything

As a referral agency, Love Right cannot dictate the tasks that the caregiver(s) perform in the home.  It’s up to the client and the caregiver to decide what should be done to complete each job.

While home care and home health care sound similar, they serve entirely different purposes. Home care provides non-medical support for daily living activities, offering help with tasks like bathing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and companionship. In contrast, home health care delivers skilled medical treatment from licensed professionals—such as nurses or physical therapists—to help you recover from an illness, injury, or surgery. Think of home care as everyday lifestyle assistance, while home health care is clinical medical treatment brought directly to your door.

Their Clients do.

When a client requests to meet a referred professional caregiver, they do with the understanding that the caregiver is not the referral agency’s employee. When clients set up a regular schedule with this person, they will have already initiated services through a third party payment company responsible for billing and payments for services. Negotiations for caregiver payments are settled between the client and the caregiver.

Many of the caregivers offering their service on the Love Right® Platform prefer this type of 24-hour care, or as we call it “an Extended Shift”.  Families can engage in around-the-clock care with professional caregivers for multiple days per week.  This keeps the change of shifts to a minimum and builds a quality bond between caregiver and care recipient.
